Value Chains for Rural Development

The Value Chains for Rural Development partnership links ethnically diverse communities of smallholder farmers in Myanmar to better paying domestic and global specialty coffee markets to improve agricultural productivity and incomes, spurring inclusive economic growth in a country once isolated from the world and global marketplace. Improved sales prices earned by specialty coffee growers in remote parts of Myanmar — resulting from better practices and linkages to committed processors, roasters and importers catalyzed by Winrock – is helping communities achieve their own goals, including public infrastructure (community buildings, roads and irrigation) upgrades, farm expansions, health care, education and other improvements.
