Primary Focus: SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

Description:

Currently in Colombia 12 million tons of solid waste are produced per year, of which 1,250,000 tons are plastic generated mostly by the food packaging industry with 56%. At the same time, the Amazon and Magdalena rivers, two of the most important in the country, are among the 20 most polluted rivers on the planet by plastic. This partnership addresses this issue through giving social entrepreneurs the opportunity to position and generate processes of productive linkage to their innovations to reduce the impact generated by the plastic problem in Colombia. Awarding innovative entrepreneurs with seed capital, training, technical support, and productive chains, the partnership addresses the long term goal of restoring and preserving Colombian biodiversity.
