THE ANNUAL SUMMIT MANUAL

The Annual Summit Manual is designed to help new Concordia Members navigate the Annual Summit and maximize their experience. The manual includes tips, recommendations, and testimonials collected from current and previous Concordia Members. We encourage you to take some time ahead of the Annual Summit to prepare for your experience, using the below tips as a guideline.

Before the Annual Summit:

1. As you start to prepare for the Annual Summit, set some specific goals that you would like to attain from the gathering and structure your experience around those goals. Feel free to communicate those goals to the Concordia Team via the pre-Summit survey — we’ll do our utmost to help you reach them!

2. The Annual Summit has a large and diverse program. We recommend you review the agenda and the speaker list once it’s made available. Plan which sessions you’ll be attending and which speaker(s) you would like to meet.

3. Download our Concordia Events App before arriving at the Annual Summit and take some time to orient yourself with the space where the conference will take place, especially where your preferred sessions will take place. The app is equipped with all the up-to-date information regarding speakers, sessions, and events.

4. Plan to bring portable chargers and wireless battery packs for your phone just in case outlets aren’t readily available.

5. Make sure to bring enough business cards and keep some on hand, as well as stationery in your luggage for easy access. The Concierge Team can also help with follow up introductions and connections if needed.

During the Annual Summit:

1. You will come out of the Summit with a wealth of information from breakout sessions, workshops, and one-on-one conversations. We encourage you to use the official Summit app to choose which sessions you don’t want to miss. Many attendees find it helpful to take notes during the sessions. Additionally, it is helpful to use breaks as a time to network, exchange business cards and meet new people who are in the same space.

2. The Concordia Annual Summit will always have a designated hashtag throughout the event. This is a great way to be a part of a larger conversation by sharing some takeaways and notes from your sessions. You can also monitor the hashtag throughout the conference to follow live conversations.

3. Attend one or more of Concordia’s curated private events on the sidelines of the Summit. This is a great way to interact on a more intimate basis with high-level speakers and attendees. Concordia often co-hosts private dinners, cocktail receptions, and roundtables with partner institutions to serve as an additional benefit for Members to participate in ongoing programming throughout the event.

After the Annual Summit:

1. Do some housekeeping and follow up with new contacts; connecting with people you met during the Summit is best done in the days immediately after.

2. Make use of the insights you gained from your prospects and find ways to apply them in your work.

3. Please fill out our post-Summit survey to share your experiences with us so that we can make future Summits even more impactful, and contribute to our annual reporting metrics.

4. We would love to hear from you! Please keep us up to date with your developments and sharing ideas of how we can grow our Concordia community.

Concordia aims to help our Members connect with everyone who attends the Summit. If for whatever reason you were unable to collect a business card of a fellow participant, Concordia can work with you to connect with respective attendees during and after the event.

Maximizing Year Round Membership

Concordia Membership is year-round and extends beyond our Annual and Regional Summits. We look to support and celebrate your partnering efforts and encourage you to think of Concordia as an extension of your impact strategy. As a Member, you are invited to:

  • work directly with our Strategic Engagement Department to access crowd-sourced information, share findings or thought leadership, and promote achievements.
  • Regularly check in with our Partnership Development Department about your annual partnering objectives and explore ways that Concordia (and its extensive community) might contribute to their achievement. The Department is equipped to help you research and strategize potential partners, evaluate partnership models, generate governance documents and partnership Strategic Plans, act as a neutral intermediary between partners, develop enduring partnership outcomes, and otherwise advance your partnering acumen.
  • Work with our Programming Department to identify thought leaders, resources, and even venues for your privately hosted events.
  • Follow up on conversation sets from the Annual and Regional Summits to learn about next steps and action points.
