W-GDP 2X Americas: Investing in the Future of Women

August 6, 2020  |  DIGITAL

11:00 am – 2:00 pm EDT

Presented in partnership with

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), America’s development bank, and Concordia partnered in 2020 to host a special, invitation-only, digital half-day event that highlighted women’s economic empowerment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

WGDP 2X Americas, part of DFC’s broader 2X Women’s Initiative, had an initial commitment of mobilizing $1 billion in capital to women in Latin America. During the event, which included a fireside chat and strategic dialogues focusing on the importance and impact of investing in women, they announced that they have increased the commitment total to $6 billion.

W-GDP 2X Americas: Investing in the Future of Women sought to underscore the value and results of gender lens investing and provided a platform to discuss private sector solutions to improve economic opportunity for women in Latin America and the Caribbean. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more necessary than ever to invest in women, and this event brought together action-oriented partners to foster frameworks for investing in women in the region.

Program included:

    • Fireside Chat: The Transformational Power of Investing in Women
    • Panel I: Identifying Barriers and Solutions to Women’s Economic Opportunity
    • Panel II: Expanding Women’s Access to Capital – From Microlending to Structured Finance (conducted in Spanish)
    • Panel III: Rescue, Recovery and Resilience: Supporting women’s economic empowerment during COVID-19 through interventions, innovations and investment opportunities
    • Panel IV: Approaches for Achieving Stability and Sustainability
