Tom Stritikus is a Deputy Director of K-12 Education at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Stritikus oversees initiatives of personalized learning, assessment for student learning, instructional leadership, teacher observation and feedback, and teacher preparation.

Prior to joining the foundation, Dr. Stritikus was the Dean of the University of Washington College of Education. Under his leadership, the College of Education strengthened partnerships with local schools and educators, most notably around innovative projects within the field of teacher preparation. These research-based endeavors included the UW Accelerated Certification for Teachers (U-ACT), in collaboration with Teach For America, and the newly launched Seattle Teacher Residency program, a partnership with Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Education Association, and the Alliance for Education.

Raised in an immigrant household, Dr. Stritikus began his public school teaching experience with Teach For America in Baltimore.

Dr. Stritikus earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley in Language, Literacy, and Culture.
