Teresa Hutson is the Corporate Vice President, Technology for Fundamental Rights. In this role she helps us advance our mission to empower every person to achieve more by leading our efforts to promote and protect fundamental rights. By partnering with organizations, community leaders, universities, and government agencies, her team works to extend the benefits of technology to everyone while mitigating potential harm. This includes promoting responsible business practices, expanding accessibility and meaningful connectivity, protecting democracy, and advancing fair and inclusive societies.  

Previously, Teresa worked as the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the HR Legal Group at Microsoft where she oversaw immigration, employment law, and employment compliance practices.  Prior to Microsoft, Hutson worked in private practice. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Textual Studies from Syracuse University and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.

Beyond her role at Microsoft, Teresa dedicates her time to pro-bono work in support of immigration and veterans’ rights. She is also active in the business community, partnering with Seattle organizations to highlight and advance issues like employment, racial equity, and community partnership.
