Sonia Rugwiro

Sonia is a System Administrator at MaraPhones Rwanda Limited the first smart phones manufacturing factory in Rwanda and the first ever on African continent. Sonia is heading a division called MaraPhonesLab which is in charge of designing, developing and implementing software to add value to the smartphones. Sonia has worked as a software engineer for Meshpower Rwanda, a solar mini-grid company and has successfully managed to develop and maintained online systems to track the use of solar energy and automation of lights in remote areas. A strong believer of equality and gender equity at the workplace, Sonia strives to support women in her surroundings and try to create opportunities for her fellows to develop and improve. Sonia enjoys reading, music and spending time with friends doing outdoor recreations.
