Ms. Tomkins leads the strategic development and execution of all sustainability
and social impact activities at TC Energy. She serves as the architect of the
company’s overall ESG policy and strategy, including positioning the company
as a key partner in the global transition to a net-zero emission economy and
making a positive impact on people and the environment.
Prior to joining TC Energy, Ms. Tomkins served as Sempra’s Vice-President
of Sustainability. Her tenure there included a series of leadership roles at
one of Sempra’s operating companies, Southern California Gas Company
(SoCalGas), the largest natural gas distribution company in the United
States, including developing and launching the company’s campaign to
demonstrate the role that natural gas infrastructure plays in a net-zero
economy. Her responsibilities included engaging with key state and federal
regulatory agencies on environmental policy issues.
Ms. Tomkins was also previously a partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where she
helped establish the firm’s Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental
subpractice group. While there, she developed and taught the Energy Law,
Policy & Climate Change course at the UCLA Law School.
Ms. Tomkins has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California,
where she graduated Order of the Coif. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
English, with High Distinction, from Pennsylvania State University.
Before moving to Calgary in May 2022, Ms. Tomkins served as a director on the
Board of the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation.
