Sam Garwin is Chief Executive Officer of Fleishers Craft Butchery, New York City’s retail destination for healthy, delicious, pasture-raised meats. In 2012, Ms. Garwin completed a whole animal butchery apprenticeship at Fleishers Westport. She continued on as the shop’s General Manager and later as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Today, Fleishers comprises four retail butcher shops and a network of farmer, processor, and value-add partners working to create a food system in which environmental and ethical responsibility are the rule rather than the exception. Earlier in her career, Sam served as the Production & Transparency Manager of Maya Mountain Cacao, a direct trade cocoa bean sourcing organization in Belize. Before joining the sustainable food movement, Sam conceptualized, designed, and deployed e-commerce and business analytics software solutions for Oracle. She holds a B.A. in information science and biology from Cornell University.
