Sahar Albazar is an Egyptian Member of Parliament and an international public policy leader with extensive experience in governance, diplomacy, economic development, and global cooperation. She serves as Deputy Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives and as Secretary for Foreign Relations of Mostaqbal Watan Party, Egypt’s leading political party.
Recognized internationally for her leadership, Albazar was elected President of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and previously chaired the Women Parliamentarians Council of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) and contributes to several international parliamentary platforms focused on technology, sustainability, and economic cooperation.
Before entering politics, Albazar built a diverse professional career spanning the public and private sectors, including roles at Harvard University, the World Bank, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott Laboratories, and BP. She also served as Advisor to Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity.
Her academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from Harvard University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Ain Shams University, executive leadership studies at Stanford University, parliamentary governance studies at McGill University, and fellowship appointments at Yale University, the University of Hong Kong, and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
Her policy work focuses on foreign affairs, economic development, artificial intelligence governance, climate finance, sustainability, youth empowerment, and international cooperation.
A recipient of numerous international recognitions, she was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum , Obama Leader for Africa and an Amujae Leader, a prestigious leadership initiative established by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development.
