Rónán is the head of Research, Development and Student Pathways for the Trinity Access Programmes (TAP). TAP works in partnership across the education sector with students, teachers, families, communities and businesses to widen access and participation at university for under-represented groups. Rónán’s work focuses on fundraising and development for nationwide educational outreach initiatives as well as university-based student support programmes. In addition to this work, he leads a research team in developing an evidence base to inform widening participation policy and practice internationally. He also represents TCD on Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) practitioners group. He moved from his previous position in Trinity College School of Physics in 2014 but still teaches Pre-University Physics for mature students and young adults. He studied general science in Trinity College Dublin specialising in experimental physics and completed a Phd in Nanoscience in 2013.
