Peter Laugharn (pronounced LAW-harn) serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Laugharn is a passionate leader in philanthropy with 35 years of foundation and nonprofit experience globally.
Since joining the Hilton Foundation in 2016, Laugharn has guided the organization through a period of unprecedented growth. He has overseen the evolution of the Foundation’s strategic grantmaking, including the expansion and development of new program areas and strengthening its commitment to community-driven initiatives.
Laugharn serves on the board of directors for the Pacific Council on International Policy and is chair emeritus for the Council on Foundations (COF) board. He is co-chair emeritus for the Council on Foundation’s Leadership Circle on Locally Led Development, and co-chair emeritus for the Leadership Table for Regional Homelessness Alignment in Los Angeles County.
Previously, Laugharn held leadership roles at the Firelight Foundation, Bernard van Leer Foundation and Save the Children, and began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco. Laugharn holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, a master’s degree from Georgetown University, and a doctorate from the University of London.
