Pete Martinez Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Pete Martinez is a visionary leader and international entrepreneur, currently serving as Chairman and CEO of the SIVOTEC family of companies. His innovative enterprises operate at the dynamic intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Health, and FinTech. With a career spanning 50 years of advanced technology, business consulting, healthcare, and education, Martinez has spearheaded numerous high-impact initiatives worldwide. IBM Leadership and Innovation During his 32-year tenure at IBM, Martinez held pivotal roles, including Vice President of Global Business Services and Senior Location Executive for IBM Florida. He led a 1,700-person organization comprising consultants, developers, industry specialists, and sales leaders. Martinez was instrumental in groundbreaking projects in advanced research, supercomputing, and information-based medicine. In 2003, he led the formation of IBM’s largest Business Transformation Multi-client Center, now a multi-billion-dollar outsourcing enterprise. Martinez previously established IBM’s Business Consulting and System Integration Services in Latin America, overseeing a $1 billion business spanning 17 countries with a 2,000-person team. He also founded IBM’s e-business Strategy Consulting and served as Consulting Profession Leader for the Americas. Notably, he created the IBM University Consortium ‘LA Grid’ (Latin America Grid) and the advanced global pandemic research initiative ‘Project Checkmate’ in collaboration with The Scripps Research Institute. Among his career highlights, Martinez was engineering manager in the original IBM Personal Computer team and co-founded IBM’s Internet Division and eBusiness Consulting group. Martinez was the Chief Innovation Officer and played a critical role in successfully taking the Quantum Group through its Initial Public Offering. Academic and Advisory Roles Martinez’s dedication to innovation extends to academia and advisory leadership. He is a Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a visiting professor at Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University. Martinez chairs advisory boards for the University of Miami’s School of Engineering and Florida International University’s School of Computer Science. He is a former Chairman of the Florida Research Consortium Board of Directors. Academic and Advisory Roles Beyond IBM, Martinez has held influential positions in entrepreneurial and philanthropic organizations. As President of the Association of Cuban-American Engineers and Chairman of the Board of Palm Beach Medical Education Company, Martinez led transformative initiatives in engineering and medical education. Currently, he is Co-Chairman of the Brain Health Project Foundation and serves on the board of Student ACES, an organization promoting academic and athletic leadership. His past board memberships include the Caridad Center and the Palm Health Foundation. Martinez has also served as a Trustee of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. Patents and Publications Martinez’s technical contributions include over 30 patents and publications in healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, computer architecture, robotics, optical disks, and display technology. A sought-after keynote speaker, he has addressed global audiences at international conferences and presented at the United Nations. His insights have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Economist, ABC News, Univision, and CNN. Awards and Recognitions Martinez holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami, where he was named a Distinguished Alumnus (1998) and is a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Iron Arrow Honor Societies. He has been recognized with numerous honors, including “Engineer of the Year” by the Association of Cuban-American Engineers (2002), induction into the Miami Dade College Hall of Fame (2004), and the Florida International University’s Cal Kovens Service Medallion Award (2007). The City of Boca Raton proclaimed June 22, 2007, as “Pete Martinez Day” in his honor. Pete Martinez’s remarkable career reflects a global commitment to technological innovation, educational advancement, and societal impact.
