Oluwaseun Adekugbe

Oluwaseun is a Nigeria born-and-raised climate and nature advocate. She holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology in (Forestry and Wood), from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. She has hands on experience and field exposure working as a Research Assistant at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN).

Oluwaseun co-founded the Ecosustainers initiative in Nigeria, a network of young foresters promoting the participation of Indigenous communities in sustainable forest management, and leading on advocacy as regards the management of natural resources across the country. Previously,  Oluwaseun worked as the Head of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)/Youth in Landscapes (YIL) Sub-Commission of the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA). Also, she worked with the UN-REDD Programme on the vlogging for forests campaign to advocate for forest and nature protection  at the Conference of Youth (COY15) and Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25).

Oluwaseun is an active climate activist and environmentalist. She is a top advocate of sustainable forest management in Nigeria, particularly on forest policy in relation to rural livelihoods systems, biodiversity conservation, and landscape restoration and management. 

Outside the workspace, Oluwaseun enjoys reading, vlogging, and hiking.
