I am a food chemist (doctoral in food science and undergraduate in chemistry), born 47 years ago. My personal experience in struggling with flooding in 2002 drove me to chose bioplastic as my research interest. Flood was not caused by heavy rain but by plastic waste that clogs waterways and shallows the river. Then, in 2003 and 2005, I got scholarship for master and doctoral in food science. After graduated, I started my academic career as lecturer and researcher in 2009. I applied an enterpreneurship competition in 2012 to transform my research output into business idea. For the first product, seaweed-based sheet, we continue to develop other forms regarding customers’ request. In total, we have 5 patents, including that for seaweed-based hard capsule, container, and flexible packaging, that are applicable for medical devices and its packaging.
