Lisa Button has extensive knowledge and experience in relation to domestic, regional and global refugee policy and holds a Masters in Public and International Law. She began her career as a commercial lawyer with a large Australian firm but over the past decade has worked primarily in the area of Australian and regional refugee law and policy including with Save the Children Australia and the Centre for Policy Development. She has recently been leading in the development of an alternative policy model for community refugee sponsorship in Australia and the creation of the Community Refugee Sponsorship Initiative, a partnership between Save the Children, the Refugee Council of Australia, Amnesty International, Rural Australians for Refugees, the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce and the Welcome to Australia initiative.
