José Aguirre is an Industrial Engineer from Universidad de los Andes with a focus on finance and organizational development, with more than 11 years of experience in consulting and management of social organizations and specialized in project management. He started his professional career in the social and entrepreneurship sectors as an associate consultant of Corporación Compartamos with Colombia in 2005, where he has participated as a consultant and manager in more than 40 projects of institutional strengthening, entrepreneurship, impact investment, and sustainable development. He served as the Executive Director of Compartamos with Colombia and led projects in the areas of impact investment, social innovation, sustainable development and entrepreneurship. He was manager of the structuring project of the first impact investment fund in Colombia (Inversor), participated as a jury in the Mission Impact Program and accompanied as an advisor in the strengthening of multiple organizations promoting business and social entrepreneurship in Colombia.

He is the founder and promoter of the Festival Detonante. He is currently the Director of Planning and Management (COO) of the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of Profamilia, Enseña por Colombia, and the Pro Sierra Nevada Foundation of Santa Marta, lecturer on sustainability, entrepreneurship, institutional strengthening and impact investment in top-level specialized events in Colombia, Brazil, Peru and the US.
