I am an investor and senior advisor in technology, brain longevity and business transformation. I love anticipating the future and building teams that benefit from it.
I serve as Chair of the Compensation and Management Development Committee in the Board of Biogen (NASDAQ: BIIB), a Fortune 500 leading biotechnology company. I also serve in the Innovation, Audit and Compensation committees in the Board of International Flavors and Fragrances (NYSE:IFF), a Fortune 500 company in the scents, flavors, health and biosciences sectors. Additionally I serve on the boards of NeuroFab, a private company developing next-generation neuromorphic AI computing; and DVLP Medicines, a private company that provides AI-native platforms to accelerate the Pharmaceutical drug development process.
I give back by serving in a few non profit organizations: I am the vice-chair of the Board at HITEC, a non-profit focused on leadership development in technology careers; I am interested in modernizing corporate governance, and serve in the Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD); I recently became a Trustee of the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, one of the world’s largest philanthropic funders of ethical AI use for social good and Brain research; and I also serve in the Board of Directors of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative.
I professionally advise organizations where I can make an impact, including the NASDAQ Center for Board Excellence, IE University New York College, BetterUp and Quantum Metric.
I started my career in Artificial Intelligence in 1991, in the field of neural networks applied to speech recognition. I created the early enterprise mobile applications that changed how we work in 2000. I launched one of the world first AI practices at scale in 2016 while at IBM and I was one of the inaugural 40 members of the World Economic Forum’s Global AI Council. I retired in 2025 as leader of the $10B Business Consulting unit of IBM, after a 23 year career that included leading IBM Consulting Strategy, Offerings and Corporate Development, leading the IBM Global Business Process Outsourcing business and running IBM Consulting in Latin America.
Before joining IBM, I lived in California and was a partner in the High Technology Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting. I also worked for Ernst & Young and led supply chain systems for Procter & Gamble in Spain.
I have degrees in Telecommunications, Electrical, Software Engineering and Business Administration by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, I was an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Management of the University of California, Irvine; and I served as an officer in the Air Force of Spain.
