Jason Dean is the lead AI & Tech analyst at Washington Post Intelligence. A reporter and editor for more than 25 years, he joined the Post after nearly a decade as global technology editor at The Wall Street Journal, where his team earned multiple Loeb Awards and other major journalism recognition and shared in the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting.
He previously spent four years as the Journal’s Chicago bureau chief, running coverage of food, aviation and manufacturing. He joined the Journal in 1999 as a newswires reporter in Beijing, then served as its correspondent in Taiwan. He became China News Editor after returning to Beijing in 2005, helping run a team that won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting and the 2010 Overseas Press Club Award for best business reporting.
Jason earned a degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University. He lives in the San Francisco Bay area.
