Hend Alhinnawi is Co-Founder and CEO of Humanitarian Tracker, an award-winning global nonprofit with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). For more than 15 years, she has worked at the intersection of humanitarian action, global development, public diplomacy, and emerging technology, with a focus on ensuring that the communities closest to the world’s most pressing challenges are represented in the data, decisions, and investments shaping their futures.
Humanitarian Tracker’s pioneering work began with Syria Tracker, one of the longest-running crisis-mapping initiatives of the Syrian revolution. The platform used crowdsourced, verified, time- and location-based reporting to document human rights violations, disease outbreaks, and urgent community needs in areas that were increasingly inaccessible to journalists and humanitarian organizations. Its data informed the work of the United Nations, USAID, the U.S. Department of State, and international media. Among its documented impacts, Syria Tracker data directly contributed to the rescue of approximately 150 civilians—primarily women and children—trapped in Aleppo.

In 2016, Humanitarian Tracker was recognized as a top global innovation and showcased at the Solutions Summit hosted at United Nations Headquarters. In 2025, at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, the President of the UN General Assembly highlighted Humanitarian Tracker as a standout example of community-led innovation.

Today, Hend is leading the next evolution of this work through Global Action Mosaic 2.0, an initiative connecting high-impact innovators in emerging markets with trusted data, strategic partnerships, technology, and global capital. With an initial focus on health, education and inclusive economic growth, the platform is designed to make locally developed solutions more visible, discoverable, and connected to the resources needed to scale.

Mrs. Alhinnawi holds a Master of Public Diplomacy from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a B.A. in International Development, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa, from UCLA. In 2025, she received MedGlobal’s Humanitarian Award in recognition of her contributions to humanitarian action and technology for social good.
