Guy Baron is the Global Lead for the Investment practice at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (‘TBI’), leading sovereign investment structuring and attraction across TBI’s advisory footprint of 40 emerging and frontier countries.

Prior to his current role, Guy was Chief Investment Officer of the Rwanda Development Board, Rwanda’s Investment Promotion & Private Sector Development Agency. Appointed by Cabinet, Guy was charged with investment ecosystem development and overseeing $2.5bn in annual investment activity in the country, by strategic, financial and private investors, across all sectors.

Previously, Guy spent 22 years in Investment Banking and Institutional Research, as an executive at RBC Capital Markets, Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston. Guy is an alum of Boston University and Harvard Business School.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Guy lived in the US for 25 years and in Rwanda starting in 2017. Guy co-founded SCALE Africa in 2007, a non-profit organization to design and build rural primary schools in Zambia. He also serves on the board of directors of Village Capital and on the advisory board of Texas Children’s Hospital Global HOPE program.
