Gene has more than 20 years’ experience working with companies to raise capital from a full spectrum of the world’s leading investors, including mutual funds, hedge funds, foundations, family offices, and private equity firms.

As head of the New York office and head of U.S. sales for Renaissance Capital, Gene coordinated well over 100 transactions, from multi-billion-dollar IPOs to small private placements across the globe. He helped design, coordinate, and sell ground-breaking deals and products in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Rwanda, Russia, and Zimbabwe.

While at Renaissance, Gene built the New York office from one person (himself, and, yes, it was lonely at times) to a team of 30 professionals. He supervised all areas of this expansion, including business development, hiring, regulatory compliance, and marketing. Gene began his career as an M&A analyst at Salomon Brothers. While at Salomon, Gene learned that there are only 168 hours in a week.

Gene enjoys finding unconventional solutions to bringing capital to frontier markets, where a lack of infrastructure necessitates invention and innovation. Gene has a M.A. in International Finance and a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University.
