Retired U.S. Marine Corps General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., has served as a Senior Managing Director and Partner of Liberty Strategic Capital and as a member of the firm’s investment committee since February 2022. Previously, he served as the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2015 until his retirement in September 2019. His previous assignments include serving as the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Commander of all U.S. and NATO Forces in Afghanistan. Commissioned in 1977, General Dunford served as an infantry officer at all levels, including commanding the 5th Marine Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University, and Chairman of the Board of the Semper Fi and America’s Fund.
