Hon. Dr. Frank C.S. Anthony is a Guyanese physician, public health expert, and politician currently serving as the Minister of Health of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana under President Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s administration, representing the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C). He earned his Medical Degree from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. Dr. Anthony’s extensive career in public service and health policy includes serving as the Executive Director of the Ministry of Health’s Health Sector Development Unit—where he led major national health system reform, HIV/AIDS, and disease control programs—as well as lecturing as an adjunct professor of public health at the University of Guyana. He previously served in Cabinet as the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport from 2006 to 2015 before taking up the health portfolio as Shadow Minister (2015–2019) and later as Minister of Health in August 2020. Since assuming office, Dr. Anthony’s leadership has focused on modernizing national health legislation—including landmark acts on mental health, suicide prevention, human organ transplantation, and radiation safety—while overseeing major expansions in hospital infrastructure, telemedicine, and rural healthcare access throughout Guyana.
