Finn Brunton is an assistant professor in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU. He is the author of Spam: A Shadow History of the Internet, co-author (with Helen Nissenbaum) of Obfuscation: A User’s Guide for Privacy and Protest, and author of the forthcoming Digital Cash (in press), as well as numerous articles about online privacy, the history of computing and cryptography, spam, fraud, hacking, and digital money and cryptocurrencies.
