Dr. Eric King is a Digital Development Specialist with USAID, where he focuses on turning data into action to accelerate international development and amplify humanitarian assistance. In general, his work seeks to harness the power of emerging technologies for social good, from encouraging digital hardware development for poor communities, to crowdsourcing solutions to gun violence in the US. Most recently, he served as a data and technology advisor on the U.S. Government’s Disaster Assistance Response Team for the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Prior to joining USAID, Dr. King was a Miller Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his Ph.D. in Planetary Physics from the University of California in Los Angeles.
