Enrique García Rodríguez is CAF’s Executive President. He is the legal representative and the highest authority in charge of the Institution’s overall supervision and management, and oversees all matters that are not specifically entrusted to any other governing body. His most important functions are to  approve CAF’s strategic plans for countries and sectors, oversee institutional structures and procedures under his authority and authorize  financial operations   within the limits delegated to him by the Board of Directors. The Executive President is appointed for a five-year period, and may be re-elected. 

Mr. Garcia was originally elected for the 1991-1996 term and subsequently re-elected for the 1996-2001, 2001-2006 and 2006-2011 terms. In 2011 he was again re-elected to a new five-year period that will end in December 2016.
