MD Rashidul Huque is Additional Chief Engineer of Works in the Bangladeshi government’s Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE). DPHE’s mandate includes Bangladesh’s national water supply and sanitation activities.

Mr. Huque received his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 1984, and joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Public Health Engineering) as Assistant Engineer. Since then he has been associated with activities in water supply and sanitation sector of Bangladesh in different capacities. His previous professional experience includes working at the grassroots level as Upazila (sub-district) Engineer, then as Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, and Project Director. His present responsibilities include oversight of all the development activities in Bangladesh’s water supply and sanitation sectors. Mr. Huque nurtures a keen interest in social mobilization for awareness raising, especially for improving personal hygiene behaviors, environmental sanitation, and sustainable development issues. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
