Dr. Erasto Sylvanus is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and currently serves as the Head of Emergency Medical Services at the Ministry of Health in Tanzania.
Dr. Sylvanus is a beneficiary of the Emergency Medicine Training program at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. After graduating the program in 2018, he joined Bugando Medical Center, a zonal tertiary hospital in Western Tanzania. He was appointed to the Ministry of Health, Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit as a Case Management & IPC Subcommittee Lead during the health emergencies and disease outbreaks. In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) country office, he coordinated health care provision in highly infectious disease treatment units for emergency and critical cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Sylvanus coordinated the establishment of the regional and council emergency medicine departments, equipping countrywide emergency care training.
