I am the Director of Breast Pathology and Associate Professor of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine. My research involves biomarkers in breast cancer. I direct the Pathology and Tumor Bank Cores of our long standing breast cancer SPORE grant and collaborate with many funded investigators in the Breast Program of the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center. I have published on the immunohistochemical detection of biomarkers to help understand mechanism of resistance to endocrine therapy and HER-targeted therapy. Furthermore, I have collaborated with Dr. Yi Li in his work to understand the role of pregnancy in breast cancer development and progression. Because of my experience in the assessment of biomarkers in breast cancer, I am qualified as a co-investigator on this project. For this R01 application, I will be responsible for all histopathological characterizations and will supervise and train the lab personnel on immunohistochemical staining and scoring.
