Diego is the Executive Director of the Federación Colombiana de Enfermedades Raras (FECOER), an umbrella organisation bringing together 50 patient groups to represent the voice of the rare disease community in Colombia. Diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension over 30 years ago, Diego used his technical knowledge and background to advocate for the rights of people living with rare diseases. He served as the president of Asociación Tejido Azul, an organisation that supports patients with pulmonary hypertension and their caregivers. Diego also serves as a technical advisor to the Colombian network for access to biotech medications (BIOREDCOL), is President of Fundación de Enfermedades Raras en el Caribe y América Latina (ERCAL) and is a member of Rare Diseases International (RDI).
