Charles is a capital market and derivatives market lawyer at a large firm in New York City, an author for The Atlantic and a member of the Board of Concord 51 PAC. Charles represents large financial institutions, asset managers and insurance companies in a wide variety of capital market and derivatives market transactions, ranging from routine fund formations to the issuance of complex financial products.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Charles has been writing about finance and economics for The Atlantic since 2009. Charles focuses his writing on explaining seemingly intractable topics, such as the U.S. national debt and the OTC derivatives market, in an organized and digestible fashion, and exploring contemporary issues in economics.

Charles also serves on the Board of Concord 51 PAC, an issues-based PAC focused on fiscal responsibility, energy advancement and a strong national defense.
