Bala Wunti is the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of World Energy Council Nigeria, bringing more than three decades of experience across the upstream, midstream and downstream energy sectors. His career spans investment management, corporate strategy, commercial negotiations and institutional reform, with a focus on advancing energy security, affordability and sustainable development.
He previously served as Chief Upstream Investment Officer at NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) and Group General Manager of National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), overseeing major joint venture and production sharing contract portfolios. His subsequent service as Chief Health, Safety and Environment Officer at NNPC Limited further reinforced his commitment to responsible energy operations.
As Managing Director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Wunti led Operation White, an initiative designed to strengthen transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s petroleum products supply and distribution. His earlier appointments included Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy; Technical Advisor to NNPC’s Group Managing Director; and pioneer General Manager of its Efficiency Unit, where he championed improvements in organisational performance and cost management.
Internationally, Wunti has represented Nigeria at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and on the OPEC Economic Commission Board. His work connects Nigeria’s energy priorities with global dialogue on investment, market stability and equitable energy transitions.
Wunti brings to Concordia a perspective grounded in public service, commercial leadership and philanthropy, with particular emphasis on how partnerships and investment can expand energy access and translate economic opportunity into lasting social progress.
