Baihas Baghdadi is a Spanish businessman of Syrian origin, born in Damascus into a culturally renowned family that includes prominent writers such as Shawqi Baghdadi and Badi’ Baghdadi. He has built a distinguished career in the international financial sector, combining his cultural heritage with a global strategic vision.
With more than 30 years of experience, he has worked at leading European financial institutions such as Arab Bank PLC, Fortis Bank (later integrated into BNP Paribas), and Barclays Bank (United Kingdom). He holds a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and has complemented his education with a Master’s Degree in Finance and Stock Market Studies from the FEBF, studies in Corporate Finance at IE and an M&A and PEVC programs at Harvard Business School.
In 2017, he founded in Spain Baghdadi Real Estate (BRE), his first real estate business specialized in prime assets in Spain. In 2019, he founded in Spain Trade & Working Capital (TWC), his first non- bank financial institution specialized in working capital solutions for local and international trade clients, which quickly became the benchmark company in its sector in the Spanish market.
Building on that success, in 2023 he took the next step internationally with the creation of Higher Bridge Capital Inc. in the United States, a New York–based firm focused on providing tailored accounts receivable financing solutions for medium and large companies.
In 2025, Baghdadi Capital launches Tamwuil Capital, the first trade receivables vehicle fully compliant with the sharia’a/Islamic law, conceived as a bridge connecting Europe, the Americas, and Asia with Arab capital. In the same year, the family office creates Green Bunkers, the first bunkering platform in Spain connecting shipowners and charterers with fuel suppliers, providing price and emissions traceability, CO₂ offset solutions, and access to financing. In parallel, during this year the group also reinforces its commitment to sport and culture through sponsorship agreements, becoming Main Sponsor of Real Sociedad and Premium Sponsor of C.D. Leganés, partnerships that reflect shared values such as discipline, resilience, and long-term vision.
Today, Baghdadi Capital is an international family office recognized as the leading independent player in working capital, being a non-bank financial institution with a solid value proposition and global reach with presence in Madrid, New York, Miami, London and Dublin.
Mr. Baghdadi regularly appears in Arab and international media and actively participates in financial and economic conferences, where he analyzes the economic outlook of the West, particularly the United States and the European Union.
Beyond finance, Baghdadi has investments in strategic sectors such as real estate, logistics and transportation, industrials, artificial intelligence, and defense technology.
Although he has developed his career in the West, Baghdadi maintains a strong bond with his Syrian roots and his hometown of Damascus. This pride in his origin has always been an essential part of his personal brand, built independently and without ties to political parties or institutions during more than four decades abroad.
Currently, as MENA Chair of the Atlantic Basin Initiative, he works to foster dialogue between the Middle East and the Atlantic regions, promoting Syria’s inclusion in major academic, economic, and strategic debates at the international level.
