Dr Antonio Poncioni Mérian is a globally engaged businessman whose trajectory bridges diplomacy, international public affairs, and corporate leadership across Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in senior private-sector roles, advisory board mandates, and entrepreneurial initiatives, Antonio has built his career at the intersection of public policy, international affairs, and emerging market development.
A native of Brazil and France, he has advised governments in a range of strategic and institutional capacities, developing a deep understanding of the political, economic, and social dynamics that shape emerging economies, particularly where geopolitics and economic interests converge.
He began his academic path in France, reading Latin American history at the Sorbonne, before pursuing an extensive international education. Educated at the École Normale Supérieure, UC Berkeley, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III), and Sciences Po (Paris), he earned the prestigious Agrégation and holds both a Master in Public Affairs & International Relations and a PhD in Latin American and Spanish Studies.
Antonio currently serves, inter alia, in a senior leadership role at Gemcorp Capital, acts as a Senior Advisor at Lazard, is a Trustee of the World Law Foundation, and a member of the Trilateral Commission (David Rockefeller Fellow). He also advises several international policy institutions and corporate firms across developed and emerging markets, acts as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, and serves as a Commander (Reserve) in the French Navy.
