Anna Blue is the Deputy Director of Girl Up, the United Nations Foundation’s adolescent girl campaign. Led by a community of nearly half a million passionate advocates raising awareness and funds, Girl Up engages girls to take action on behalf of the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.
Prior to working with Girl Up’s amazing youth leaders, Anna’s passion for education helped her find success at the Washington Jesuit Academy – a middle school serving low-income students – where she ran a multimillion dollar capital campaign and developed the school’s first strategic plan for communications. Anna also launched some of the earliest online advocacy campaigns at the Children’s Defense Fund, promoting equal education for all children nationwide.
In addition to her work for youth, Anna spent nearly a decade in politics – in both the public and private sectors – which made her particularly passionate about using her voice to stand for those whose voices are not as easily heard. Anna holds a Master’s degree in Education Policy from The George Washington University.
