Ana Rita Gonzalez

PhD. Public health policy from Johns Hopkins University, a degree in health planning studies from Cornell University and a master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Puerto Rico. During her more than 30 years of experience, Dr. González has been deeply involved in breaking down barriers to patient care. An exemplary case was when in 1986 she led the transformation of the service delivery model at the San Juan City Hospital to one that included preventive care, improved health and reduced costs. She also established the first HIV/AIDS Service in his country. From WHO/PAHO she launched a major health care reform. In 2010 she co-founded Policy Wisdom, an organization focused on health policy to ensure that all voices are heard and that public health policies are balanced and work for all.
