| Said T Jawad is a senior business executive and diplomat. He has devoted his career to managing substantial projects and building resilient institutions to provide security, build prosperity and defend democratic values. He has built an extensive network of global contacts while serving as Ambassador of Afghanistan to key capitals in the Russian Federation (2021- 2022), the United Kingdom (2017 – 2020), and the United States of America (2004 – 2010), as well as non-resident Ambassador to Ireland, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia (2004 – 2020). He has been serving since 2023 as Chairman of the Board of American University of Afghanistan, based in Doha. He has provided steady leadership and principled stand during his two decades long experience in conflict resolution and conflict management. He has served as Diplomat-in-Residence at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, focusing on conflicts in South and Central Asia, and a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Future of Diplomacy Project at the Belfer Center, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, lecturing on the role of modern diplomacy in conflict management. He speaks with authority about international security, women’s rights, and leadership requirements for success in challenging settings and shifting global platforms. Ambassador Jawad has published over one hundred articles and op-eds in The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, the Wall Street Journal, the International Herald Tribune, Guardian, Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy, and conducted interviews is with most prominent international media outlets. |
