Verveer is the Executive Director of the Georgetown University Institute for Women, Peace and Security. Earlier she served as the first US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, having been appointed by President Obama. Prior to serving in the State Department, she co-founded and led Vital Voices, a global NGO investing in emerging women leaders. During the Clinton Administration she served as the Chief of Staff to First Lady Hillary Clinton.
