Alice Ashpitel

Alice joined the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team in May 2022 to lead the newly created sustainability department. Since then, Alice has developed the team’s industry-leading sustainability strategy and accredited environmental management system overseeing flagship decarbonisation projects related to sustainable fuels and material innovation.  Mercedes F1 were the first global sports team to invest in Sustainable Aviation Fuel, the first global sports team to sign up to The Climate Pledge and, last year, successfully powered their European Season on biofuels. The 2024 Sustainability Report launched last week showcases major strides in sustainable innovation for the team – achieving a 68% reduction in aviation emissions through Sustainable Aviation Fuel, 98% HVO100 biofuel coverage for European logistics, a 35% cut in Race Team Control emissions, and expanded community and inclusion initiatives, underscoring their commitment to engineering change on and off the track   Alice came to Mercedes F1 from Mace where, in her role as Senior Sustainability Manger, she advised large real estate clients on how to decarbonise their property portfolios and embed sustainability across their organisations.    Having developed a passion for environmental sustainability during her time at the University of Oxford where she graduated with a Masters degree in Earth Science, Ali has forged a career in this space.  She is also a member of the Sustainable Markets Initiative S30 Next Gen Forum which brings together leaders in sustainability form some of the world’s most influential companies aiming to accelerate business action on sustainability.
