Alana Tummino is Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships & Development for Latin America at Sesame Workshop, the global nonprofit behind Sesame Street on a mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. Alana is focused on expanding Sesame Workshop’s social impact and humanitarian programs throughout Latin America by spearheading new and innovative partnerships and development opportunities with a wide range of sectors. Delivered through a variety of platforms, including television programs, digital experiences, books and community engagement, Sesame’s research-based programs are tailored to the needs of the communities and countries they serve.

Alana brings over 15 years of experience working with a broad range of public- and private-sector leaders, NGO’s, foundations, and academics, throughout the Western Hemisphere on a range of business and policy issues. She has published policy and opinion pieces in numerous outlets, and has appeared as an expert on CNN, CNN en Español, NPR, BBC, and PBS, among others. Alana most recently served in various roles at AS/COA as Chief of Staff and Senior Director of Policy, and previously with a range of international development organizations on microfinance and women’s economic empowerment.

She received an MA in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), and received her BA in Political Science and Spanish from the George Washington University. Among her awards, she was a Foreign Language and Area Studies fellow for Portuguese and Latin America from U.S. State and Education Departments, a Financial Women’s Association graduate scholar, and an American Association of University Women scholar.
