Akiko is an Anchor/Reporter at Yahoo Finance, where she co-hosts the 11am to Noon ET hour of live programming, and reports on the intersection of technology and geopolitics, and climate. Prior to joining Yahoo Finance, she spent nearly a decade in Asia, reporting across the region, most recently working for CNBC International.
During her time there she co-anchored Squawk Box Asia out of Hong Kong, and reported on the tech sector across the region, as a Singapore-based correspondent. She also covered some of the biggest political stories in the region, including the Trump-Kim Summit, and interviewed the biggest business and political leaders including Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda. Prior to CNBC, Akiko was a Tokyo-based correspondent for ABC News.
Akiko is a native of Los Angeles and speaks fluent Japanese. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
